Mayor announces new Development Panel
Tue 28th August 2018, 2:24 pm
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has announced who will bring forward up to £20 billion of new housing on public land as part of the second London Development Panel (LDP2).
The LDP2 will replace the first Development Panel, initiated by Khan’s predessor, Mayor Boris Johnson in 2013. That panel expired in 2017.
A number of new sites will be delivered through LDP2, including three car parks owned by Transport for London in the London Borough of Harrow and Meridian, and one in the London borough of Enfield.
Commenting on the new panel, James Murray, deputy mayor for housing and residential development, said: “Public land has a vital role to play in tackling the housing crisis, and the new London Development Panel offers public land owners a quicker and more efficient way to bring their sites forward. We want to see it playing an important role in building the homes Londoners so desperately need.”
