Kit Malthouse MP has been appointed minister of state for housing.

The Conservative member of parliament for North West Hampshire will be taking over the role from Dominic Raab MP, who was appointed secretary of state for exiting the European Union.

In his new role, Kit Malthouse will oversee the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s programs to deliver more affordable homes.

He said: "Building the homes this country needs is a top priority for this government. I am keen to build on the real progress that has been made and start working with the sector, so we can deliver more homes, restore the dream of home ownership and build a housing market fit for the future."

Before becoming an MP, Kit Malthouse was deputy mayor of london for business and enterprise under Boris Johnson.
